Creating, painting, sculpting, discovering, producing, and dissecting, Leonardo da Vinci lived a busy life. Two of his most famous works, The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper are still referred to today for their skill, techniques, and mastery. The Mona Lisa was and is still famous because da Vinci used sfumato, a technique that created a smoky background in the painting. The Last Supper continues to spark new notions about why Leonardo painted each one of the disciples in a specific place. Many think that each of them symbolized their reactions and set of values. Not only was da Vinci an art mastermind, but he was also involved in science. He made wings for humans to fly, showed people that the human body was not what it seemed to be, and created machines designed for combat and war. Leonardo da Vinci’s discoveries made a lasting imprint in our art and science today.
